Chinatown Stories Map

Chinatown Stories Map is a community-driven project led by illustrator Emily Chu, created to invite curiosity about the histories — and the many voices — that have shaped Edmonton's Chinatown. A companion to the printed map, the site brings 30 unique location-based stories to life in an interactive digital format, with each article available in three language translations and supported by a flexible layout designed to accommodate varying amounts and types of imagery without favouring one language over another. The printed map featured QR codes linking directly to each article online, so faithfully reproducing the illustrated map on the web was central to the build. The interactive map functionality was achieved almost entirely natively in Webflow.
